The drawings below were done by students who either attended
one of How Great Thou Art's 3-day art classes or have
completed one of our curriculum where we teach student's many
of the fundamentals of
drawing i.e. drawing and shading with lines, ellipses,
perspective proportions,
drawing from life, use of a light source, line variation,
overlapping, cross-hatching foreshortening, form &
texture, etc... Drawing is
the essential ingredient needed in learning art, thus it
deserves the most attention especially for the beginning
artist. Discipline, practice, and a good attitude are what
make an able artist, not talent. Talent simply means
practicing until you have developed your abilities to the
point where you have become good at it, or talented. When Edgar Degas, the French Impressionist artist, was a young
student he went to visit the great French master, Ingres
(pronounced Angs). He asked the great master this one
question..."what do you consider the most important
thing to learn in art"? The wise aged master replied,
"Draw lines young man, plenty of lines."
